Browsing through my latest edition of classic rock magazine I came across a review for the new John 5 album, This guy is a genius and has had to play under lesser gifted individuals his entire career- here he has his new solo album and although I am not a massive fan, there is no mistaking his guitar skills are of ridicules proportions- the man shreds like a beast! It’s the cover artwork that interests me, the bold use of colour and the way it complement’s itself! it’s almost popart with a sinister twist- the image of himself in typical John 5 attire is the opposite to the colours shown and the use of the font here brings a simplistic, eye catching design to life, Awesome!
The Neil Zlozower book cover is also a guitar wielding portrait, Mick Mars from Motley Crue to be precise (shout at the devil tour 1984, to be even more precise) but the colours here, again simple and bold are perfect. I’ve always had a thing for pink over black and white anyway but this is great when tied together with the stencil style font and welcoming title- you gotta love a bit of anarchy right!
